Outreach interventions & de-escalation
Addiction Support is called in for clients with addiction and behavioural problems whose situation is escalating (levels 1 to 4 on the Dutch AVE scale for escalating care). The approach: building contact through motivational interviewing and constructive confrontation, connecting with the client and their network.
Triage follows, with crisis intervention where needed and guidance into the right treatment — the goal being a safe return of the case to the regular care coordinator. Addiction Support also contributes expertise to complex-case meetings of the regional Care and Safety House.
Consultation & triage
Expertise for triage in complex cases, knowledge transfer, and consultation on addiction and behavioural problems — from case level to policy level, connecting partners across the care chain.
Training, teaching & education
Psycho-education on addiction as a chronic brain condition: how does addiction work, and what treatment methods exist? Valuable for families, and equally for professionals and teams working with clients with addiction problems.
- Guest lectures at universities of applied sciences and research universities (incl. HAN and Radboud University)
- Drug-awareness education and personal story at secondary vocational schools
- Team days and symposia for mental health organisations
The drug demonstration case
In-depth education built around a demonstration case containing all substances commonly found in the Netherlands, including paraphernalia, organised by the three categories of active substances: stimulants, depressants and psychedelics.
Individual support & family counselling
Individual specialist support for addiction and dual diagnosis, for example through a personal care budget (PGB) or a municipal social-support (Wmo) referral. Core values: respect, honesty, and finding new openings in situations that have come to a standstill.
Family counselling
Addiction affects the whole system around a client. Addiction Support helps family members with evidence-based interventions that strengthen the network, including counselling for codependency.
